I realize that this must be very frustrating for you.  Thanks for your patience with it.  The symptoms you have are just like those of another student who was in my office today.

I wasn't able to figure out how to get there computer to do the right thing either.  I would suggest writing the code as best as you can without being able to compile it.

I'm aware of the problems you and others are having.  At this point I don't think there is much to be gained from continuing to fight with it.  Just submit what you come up with and I will grade it with that in mind.  If you would like until tomorrow at 11pm, you may have it.
